Event details:

Join Clare Holohan at Knoydart Farm to learn about the medicinal properties of Scotland’s wild plants and create a herbal remedy to take home.

The event will run from 11:30am to 5:30pm on the 10th of May, 2025 with a foraging walk in the morning, learning and getting to know the medicinal/healing plants of Knoydart. A free fresh organic lunch offered by Knoydart Farm in the afternoon and a practical herbal preparations workshop where you will learn to make – infused vinegars or balms.

Clare is passionate about plants, people, food, nutrition and health. She believes that leading a healthy and happy life equates to preventative medicine and contributes towards optimum health. Following a short career in catering and hospitality, Clare decided to pursue a more fulfilling path combining my interest in nutrition with working with plant medicine. Clare began my degree in Herbal Medicine at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine in Glasgow. During this time she qualified with a diploma in Holistic Massage and a Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy.

Clare also studied nutrition, organic growing, practical pharmacy and plant identification. Following the School’s closure in 2010, she transferred to the University of East London where she graduated in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine.

Clare lives and runs her herbal medicine practice and foraging teaching business from Lochaline, a remote village in the West Highlands of Scotland. Clare raises livestock naturally, grows food and medicinal herbs for use in her clinic. Clare has a keen interest in cooking and nutrition, growing plants, raising animals naturally and making medicines. Clare is on the allotments committee in Lochaline (Community Land Association Morvern). She finds much value in community projects.
